About Storage: Storage Calc Screen

The Master Data > Storage > Storage Charges screen allows storing calculation formulas related to the storage of import cargo in the warehouse.

Field Description
OC Code The 2-letter charge code to identify a storage charge formula. This field uses codes entered in the Other Charges table with the type, Storage. You can retrieve available codes from the database by clicking , entering search data in one or more of the fields presented, then clicking Search. Select the desired code from the search list, then click Retrieve. The selected code will then populate the field.

Clicking the hyperlink navigates you to the Other Charges screen, where you can create or modify OC codes provided you have the appropriate duty codes.
Currency Code The ISO three-letter currency code of the currency used for this storage charge. You can retrieve available codes from the database by clicking , entering search data in one or more of the fields presented, then clicking Search. Select the desired code from the search list, then click Retrieve. The selected code will then populate the field.

Clicking the hyperlink navigates you to the Currencies screen.
Country Code The country code of the country where this storage charge is applicable. You can retrieve available codes from the database by clicking , entering search data in one or more of the fields presented, then clicking Search. Select the desired code from the search list, then click Retrieve. The selected code will then populate the field.

Station (Optional) The Import station where the storage charge is applicable. You can retrieve available codes from the database by clicking , entering search data in one or more of the fields presented, then clicking Search. Select the desired code from the search list, then click Retrieve. The selected code will then populate the field.

Carrier (Optional) The carrier for which the storage charge is applicable. You can retrieve available codes from the database by clicking , entering search data in one or more of the fields presented, then clicking Search. Select the desired code from the search list, then click Retrieve. The selected code will then populate the field.

Agent (Optional) The Agent for whom the storage charge is applicable. You can retrieve available codes from the database by clicking , entering search data in one or more of the fields presented, then clicking Search. Select the desired code from the search list, then click Retrieve. The selected code will then populate the field.

Clicking the hyperlink navigates you to the Forwarders screen.
Effective Date The date when this record becomes effective. This field can also be used to query for rates that are still valid on the particular date entered.
Termination Date The date when this record is no longer applicable.
Free Days The number of days after arrival when no storage charge is to be calculated.

You can enter -1 to define no free days. Storage has to be paid from the day of arrival onward. No bank holiday will be used.

Free Days With Time When selected, if the Arrival Time is greater than the Delivery Time, then the number of charged days is reduced by 1.
Free Hours Number of hours after arrival for which no storage charge should be calculated. If a value is entered in this field, Free Days should be zero.
Free From Time If the goods arrive after the time entered in this field, then that day is not counted as one of the free storage days. For example, 1600, as there would not be enough time left for the Agent to collect the shipment the same day.
Free Until Time When the delivery time is before the time entered in this field, the last day is not charged for storage.
Min Amount Use this field to enter a minimum storage amount that will apply.
Min Per Day The minimum amount per storage day.
Max Amount Use this optional field to enter a maximum storage amount that can be applied. The system will not store any amount higher than the maximum amount specified regardless of the amount calculated.
Formula KG/LB Storage rate per kg/lb or a formula that has to be used to calculate the storage amount. The way the system uses the rate entered in the calculation of the storage charge depends on the value in the Per Weight field (per 1 kg, per 100kg and so on).

Examples:

  • 0.15 - for a normal rate per kg/lb per day
  • 1.50/5;1.30/10;1.10 - 1.50 per kg/lb per day up to 5 days 1.30 per kg/lb / per day up to 10 days 1.10 if more than 10 days
  • 10 - Rate per day if the Weight Type is Daily Fee
If all amount fields are left empty, then there is no storage fee and the storage date is set to the delivery date.
Weight Type Indicates if the chargeable or the actual weight has to be used in the calculation of the storage charge. Select any of the following types from the drop-down list:
  • Gross Weight
  • Charge Weight
  • Daily Fee
Incremental Select this check box to enable the incremental function for the calculation of storage charges.
Per Weight Depending on the number you specified in this field, charges are calculated based on the formula set for the weight.
Ignore Bank Holiday Select this check box to ignore bank holidays when calculating the storage-from date. When selected, the storage-from date can also be on a bank holiday.
Tax From Day VAT or another type of tax is applicable for the storage amount after the number of storage days entered in this field.

Example:

  • 15 - Tax/VAT charged after 15 days of storage
  • 99 - No tax/VAT
Skip Bank Holiday in Free Days Count Select the check box to enable skipping of bank holidays in the calculation of free storage days. Click to select a particular day from the list of available days that can be excluded from the regular calculation of storage charges and free days.
